Google Drive vs momentake for wedding films

A folder of files, or one page with your name on the wedding film.

You finished the vows export in the hotel room after midnight, with the couple asleep down the hall and a group chat waiting on the phone. You weigh Google Drive vs momentake for wedding films before breakfast. The sister asked for a shared folder. She wants one link for the parents and the aunt who missed the recessional. You have the ceremony master on the SSD, and you are rendering a shorter film on the laptop.

The group chat wants the film before the brunch photos go up. A Drive folder would collect the photographer's JPEGs and the film in one pile, and the couple would hunt for the right file on a phone. momentake keeps the wedding film on a gallery page with your logo, a password, and an expiry date you set. The parents open that page in the browser and watch with no account of their own.

The page the couple keeps

You send the gallery link, and the couple pins it in the chat beside the hotel address and the photographer's note. On the anniversary they open the same page and see your name beside the film. The photographer drops selects into the Google Drive folder after the wedding, and an uncle adds phone clips from the dance floor. You leave the ceremony master beside a scan of the invitation, and the couple asks you which file to press.

momentake holds the wedding film as the object on the page. You finish the grade and add the shorter film beside the master, so the couple opens one page for both cuts. You can read the split between a file list and that page in a Drive folder versus a client gallery.

Playback on the couple's phone

The couple watches at brunch with the phone propped against a water glass. momentake plays the wedding film in the browser, so you skip the app install and the account form. On Free, momentake plays the film at 1080p. On Basic, Pro, and Max, momentake plays it at 4K. The sister opens the same link in the car on the way to the airport.

The couple opens a Drive link and picks between Google's app and the browser. They find the film in a list under photos from the brunch. On the gallery, the couple sees the wedding film first. The parents press play on the vows, on the phone they carried all day.

Your logo, the footer, and the domain

You place your logo on the gallery on Free, Basic, Pro, and Max, and the video carries no watermark. The footer on the page reads "made with momentake". You hide that footer on Max, and on Free, Basic, and Pro the footer stays on the page. Pro and Max include a custom domain, so the couple can open the film on an address you own. Free and Basic keep the gallery on the address momentake gives you.

The couple sees your logo before the film starts. Google Drive shows a folder grid with Google's name across the top. The parents remember the gallery as your page, with the logo above the film and your studio name in view.

Password, expiry, and downloads

You set a password and an expiry date on the gallery. After that date, momentake stops opening the link. You leave the original download on when the parents want a file for the television at home. You turn downloads off when the couple wants the film to stay on the page and play in the browser.

You set the Drive share inside the Google account. You can leave the link open to anyone who has it, or you can require a Google sign-in, and you end that access by editing the share settings. On the gallery, you put the expiry date on the wedding film, and momentake stops opening the link when the date arrives.

Storage for a wedding season

You might export a ceremony master around 18 GB after Saturday, and a shorter film around 4 GB for the parents. Call that pair an example from your own export. The two files add up to 22 GB of originals, and momentake counts those original files toward the quota. The upload cap is 30 GB, so you can send the 18 GB master in one upload.

Free includes 20 GB and 3 galleries, with playback at 1080p and no custom domain. The 18 GB master fits on Free. Put the 4 GB film beside it and the pair needs 22 GB, past the 20 GB on Free. Basic includes 300 GB and 4K playback. Thirteen copies of this 22 GB example use 286 GB, and on Basic you have 14 GB unused after those copies. Pro includes 1 TB plus a custom domain, and Max includes 3 TB plus a custom domain. Basic, Pro, and Max include unlimited galleries, so on those plans you watch the quota while each wedding can have a gallery.

Price on 9 October 2026

momentake lists Free at $0, Basic at $6.99 per month, Pro at $12.99 per month, and Max at $29.99 per month. You can start a 14-day trial, and you do not enter a card. Google includes 15 GB with the account, and Drive, Gmail, and Photos share that 15 GB. On the United States list dated 9 October 2026, Google One Basic is 100 GB at $1.99 per month. Google changes the price by country. You can match these figures to the United States list Google published for 9 October 2026.

The 18 GB example master is larger than the 15 GB Google includes with the account, and Gmail and Photos draw from that same 15 GB. Google One Basic at $1.99 per month adds 100 GB and covers that example file. momentake Basic at $6.99 per month gives you 300 GB for original files, 4K playback, and unlimited galleries, and the couple reopens that gallery for the wedding film.

The week after the wedding

  1. On Sunday night you upload the ceremony master to a new gallery and place your logo on the page.
  2. On Monday you set a password and an expiry, send the link to the couple, and the couple sends it on to the parents.
  3. On Wednesday you finish the grade and add the shorter film to the same gallery.
  4. On Saturday the parents watch both films on a phone during the thank-you lunch, from the link they saved on Monday.

Questions

Do the parents need a Google account to watch the film on momentake?
The parents open the gallery link in the browser, and you do not ask them to create an account. You can set a password on that gallery. A Google Drive share can be an open link or a link that asks for a Google sign-in, and you choose that inside the Google account.
Where does the 15 GB on a Google account go?
Drive, Gmail, and Photos share the 15 GB included with the account. On the United States list for 9 October 2026, Google One Basic adds 100 GB at $1.99 per month. Google changes the price by country. An example ceremony master around 18 GB is larger than that included 15 GB.
Can you put a logo on a Free momentake gallery?
You place your logo on Free, Basic, Pro, and Max. The video has no watermark. The footer reads "made with momentake", and you hide that footer on Max. A custom domain is on Pro and Max. Free is $0, with 20 GB, 3 galleries, and 1080p.
Does a long ceremony master fit on the Free plan?
Free includes 20 GB, and momentake counts original files toward that quota. An example ceremony master around 18 GB fits in one upload under the 30 GB cap. A shorter film around 4 GB beside it makes 22 GB. Free includes 20 GB, so that pair needs Basic, where you get 300 GB.
